Omaha Poker Rules
Omaha poker is very similar to rules of texas hold’em poker. The difference is that the players are dealt four face down cards (hole cards) instead of two at the beginning. The player only has to use two of the hole cards with three of the board cards (community cards) to create his hand. The game uses a three card flop (three face up cards that are used by all players to form their hands), with a fourth face up card being dealt after that round of betting. The betting uses the same method as that of Texas hold’em. Another difference is that at the showdown all the players that are still in the game have to show their cards.
Explicit Instructions
1. The dealer (chosen just as in Texas hold’em and called the button) deals every player four cards one at a time. These cards are in the face down position and can only be seen by the player they were dealt to. These are called pocket cards.
2. Betting is placed and the blind goes first just as in Texas hold’em
3. Dealer then burns a card and places three community cards face up
4. Betting continues for another round
5. Another card is burned by the dealer and another community card is turned over.
6. Betting continues
7. Another card is burned by the dealer and the last community card is shown
8. Another betting round
9. The show down. Players that are still in the game have to show their cards.
Remember players have to use three board cards and two pocket cards (the cards that were dealt face down) to form their hand.
The same rules to Texas Hold’em apply here except that in Omaha the three board cards (face up cards) have to be used in the hand, and they don’t in Texas Hold’em.
