Knowing When to Fold

One of the biggest reasons why people lose so much at poker, especially when they are beginner players is because they play every hand, or a lot more hands than they should.

Some beginners do it because they just don’t know any better and others because they think, they can learn more by playing. Even some advanced players tend to play more hands than they should, and they usually do because they are bored or eager to get back to winning, or to continue winning when they are on a winning streak.

If your not folding because of boredom then you are going to lose and lose heavily. The best cure for boredom is to pay attention to the other players. If you understand how important it is to fold and watch and learn the way the others at the table play then your game will improve. If you just cant fold then one of several things will happen.

• Your game wont improve. Your opponents might get a better advantage over you.
• You may improve but online inso far as learning your own cards and hwo they work, which will not let you improve in your poker strategies.

In the end, the idea is that if you receive a mediocre to bad starting hand then you should throw the cards away and instead of watching TV, watch the rest of the game and what’s going on at the table. You will learn from it and gain valuable information.
