The Game at The Turn and The River Card
Explaining the winning strategy for the turn card depends on what you did on the flop. You should only still be in the game when the turn card comes up only if you had a decent hand at the flop. Unless of course you have a hand like an open straight which may give you a flush with the turn card?
On the whole the turn card is where you decide to weather out the game or fold and see what happens in the next game. The bets double on the turn, so you need to have a winning hand or a great drawing hand to go on. Otherwise you should just fold. Don’t do as most other players do, which is just to keep playing. You should have folded in the flop and if you don’t have anything by the turn then fold.
On the Turn you Should Deeply Analyze Several Questions
The first question you should ask yourself is: What cards can beat you? If you’ve looked at your odds, and can see that many different hands can beat you then its time to fold. Then you need to think about your bankroll, can you afford to match the bets should they be raised and re-raised? Who is raising and did they raise before the flop? Is your hand or your bankroll large enough to go all the way to the river?
The turn is the nervous stage of the game, and you should be worried about it. This is the place to quit if you have made some serious mistakes. If you do decide to play on the turn, you probably won’t be able to fold on the river, even though you should and you might end up losing quite a bit of money.
Playing the river
In Texas Holdem when you get to the river you are at the end of the game. If you should have folded and didn’t this is probably not the time to do it. This is the time to see if you came out the winner or not. In fact at this stage the only thing you should be thinking about is how much to bet. When you bet more will the other players meet your raises? Will that give you a larger pot? At the river you should make the most of your winning chances, but remember that there might be someone out there with a better hand than yours.
